Quattro Launches New Android Ad Kit (SDK)
Android Application Developers Can Take Advantage of High Consumer Response Rates with New Quattro Wireless Ad Kit
Data Shows Growing Market, High Engagement for Android Application Users, Providing Strong Vehicle for Marketers and Revenue Opportunity for App Developers
Waltham, MA – July 16, 2009 – Quattro Wireless (http://www.quattrowireless.com), mobile's largest premium ad network, works with many of the leading application developers on the Android platform and has announced the release of a new software development kit (SDK) for Android, which makes it easy to integrate compelling advertising and optimize revenues.
Quattro encourages advertisers to evaluate the Android application universe as part of the mix in their mobile advertising campaigns, based on data that shows Android users are heavy users of mobile applications and engage at high rates with advertising.
"Initial data from the Quattro Network shows that ads in Android applications drive click rates more than six times higher than what advertisers achieve from online advertising," said Lars Albright, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Quattro Wireless. "Sales of devices on the platform have increased approximately 900% over the past year and by the end of this year close to 20 new phones running the Android OS are expected to ship. We've seen great results for brand and direct advertisers in targeting advertising to consumers in the applications they are really engaged with on all smartphone platforms -- including Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Palm Pre – and are pleased to offer this new opportunity for developers to earn revenue from their applications."
Market data shows that Android consumers are heavy users of applications:
• The average G1 user has downloaded more than 40 applications from the Android market virtual storefront (Source: Google)
• 80% of G1 users download at least one application per week (Source: T-Mobile)
• 35% percent of Android users can be defined as "heavy users," using applications more than 50 times per month (Source: Flurry)
A number of Quattro's customers have taken advantage of this behavior to increase their user base and drive more revenue from advertisers eager to reach an engaged audience.
"WeatherBug was an early adopter of the Android platform with the launch of our Android weather app last year, and we were able to bring advertisers a cutting-edge opportunity to get in on Android from the beginning," said Bill Laffey, Vice President of Sales Operations for WeatherBug. "We have had real success with the platform and expect a lot of growth this year, so we are pleased that our partner Quattro Wireless is launching this new SDK to make it even easier for us to offer great experiences for our advertisers."
