Microsoft's Bing Finally Makes An iPhone App

Microsoft’s Bing search service is now available as an application in the iPhone App store. The free application looks just as it does on the PC with beautiful landscape images and a simple design. However, there are a few differences: When you open the app, it asks permission to get your location, and it has six categories on the center of the page: Images, Movies, Maps, Businesses, News and Directions. When you click on movies, it automatically shows you what is playing near you; the directions category automatically sets your current location as the starting point.

The iPhone tops many consumers’ Christmas wish-lists this year, according to research from Experian Hitwise, the online competitive intelligence service.
The device picked up 1.75% of all product searches and 14.01% of all mobile phone searches during the week ending 5 December, with the iPod Touch in second place with 1.29% of all product searches. There are no other phones or PC in the top 10 product searches, though third, fourth and fifth places are occupied by the xbox 360, the Wii and the PlayStation 3, respectively.
