Ads to Play Bigger Role in Future Mobile Apps, Says Gartner
The importance of advertising as a revenue source for developers will grow as users become less willing to pay for mobile applications, according to market research company Gartner.
Twenty-five percent of application store revenue will come from advertising in 2013, compared to 5 percent last year, according to Carolina Milanesi, research director at Gartner. The number of free downloads will at the same time grow from 79 percent to 87 percent, she said.

Text message donations for Haiti disaster relief support continue to pour in to the Red Cross and Yele, the two non-profits which have set up text donation campaigns earlier this week. Today, the Red Cross campaign run by mGive, which asks for $10 donations via text message by texting “Haiti” to 90999, has netted $8 million and is still going strong.
Marvellous Creates Mobile Game for Santander Launch

Following Santander’s UK launch and the renaming of the Abbey and Bradford & Bingley brands last week, creative agency Marvellous has created a mobile and web game to engage users with the Santander creative device – red bricks.
